Rihanna has revealed the first Fenty Skin products, and told fans she wants the new skincare line to work for everyone.
The initial drop, which will be available from 31 July, consists of three products - Total Cleans’r Remove-It-All Cleanser ($25/£19), Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum ($28/£21), and Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen ($35/£27).
Taking to the Fenty Skin Instagram page, she explained why she was inspired to create her own line.
“I'm a woman of colour and I have a lot of sensitivities on a lot of areas of my face,” the singer said in a video. “I get really picky with products and a lot of time I get scared and cautious. I wanted a product that just worked. More than anything that was most important to me.
"I wanted a product that worked for everyone. I wanted the best ingredients and it didn't want it to cost a lot.”
All three products are oil-free, vegan, and gluten-free, however, some critics took to social media to warn users they contain fragrance, which could irritate sensitive and acne-prone skin.
The cleanser is made with Barbados cherry, green tea, and fig, the toner serum includes niacinamide, vitamin C, Australian lemon myrtle, and witch hazel water, and the sustainable moisturiser is fragranced with Kalahari melon.
Rihanna addressed the fragrance concerns in a video on YouTube, and said the scents are meant to "create a sensorial effect".
"We never use more than one per cent of a synthetic fragrance, and if we do, we don't hide it. You will always know about it," she explained. "We're a clean brand; we're a very honest brand."
