Rick Springfield Joins Cast of ‘Supernatural’ In Devilish New Role – Comic-Con

Rick Springfield has been cast as a minion of Lucifer for a multi-episode arc of Supernaturals season 12. The news was announced at the show’s Comic-Con panel in San Diego today.

Exec producer Robert Singer described Springfield’s character as “a rock star who’s a little bit on the down side” and ready for a comeback. The former rocker — the character, not Springfield himself — becomes a “vessel” for Lucifer.

Springfield, who broke through as an actor with American audiences on General Hospital in the early 1980s and had a string of pop hits including “Jessie’s Girl” and “I’ve Done Everything for You,” appeared in the 2015 Meryl Streep film Ricki and the Flash.

Supernatural premieres at 9 PM Thursday, October 13, on the CW.
