Richard E. Grant thanked "the power of Twitter" after an appeal on the social media platform led to the recovery of his stolen car.
The Can You Ever Forgive Me? star woke up on Tuesday to find his green Land Rover had been stolen from the driveway of his home in Richmond-upon-Thames, south London - and tweeted out an appeal to find the vehicle.
Richard's car was found later that day, with the aid of a tracking device installed by the previous owner and a helpful police officer.
Afterwards, the actor took to Twitter to thank his followers, and one who helped him track down the vehicle in particular.
"The power of Twitter!" the actor said in a video posted on the social media site. "George Taylor from Vodafone Automotive saw my tweet about my car being stolen last night outside my house. Tweeted that Vodafone Automotive had this tracking system. Found out the previous owner of my car had one. Paid through the nose to have it reactivated.
"It was discovered and located an hour later in Sutton (also south London)...met an amazing policeman, Dan, from the Metropolitan Police who was very calm. Gave me expert advice - and I've got my car back. I'm so grateful!"
In the caption to his video, Richard went on to reveal that the car was left "bashed" after the ordeal.
