Rica Peralejo safely gives birth to son via homebirth

11 Jun – Rica Peralejo recently described the birth of her second son as a miracle of homebirth, after 25 hours of battling the pain and finally welcoming him safe and sound.

In a post shared on Instagram on 10 June, Peralejo wrote, "Let me just say that it was a miracle to actually do homebirth, VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarian), and to remain completely unmedicated all throughout the labor. So many times I wanted to quit... but somehow strength came to my bones and body. Oh I really cannot wait to share it all with you."

"To all who have been praying with us since we began this journey, I thank you. From a fearful time to a victorious birth, can you imagine? In those 25 hours his heart rate stayed completely perfect. Never went down. God protected my child through and through. He created AND sustained him. And i believe this is His promise to this child for all the rest of his life."

In another post, Peralejo said that she was in tears after giving birth to her son, as it took her five years to finally be blessed with another child.

"I cannot wait to share more photos. Not only of ourselves but the birthing team we carefully chose, and who carried us through the different turns of this birth. Truly, if we want something supernatural, we must understand that it cannot be done alone," she added.

Prior to the birth of her second son, the actress suffered two miscarriages in 2016 and 2017. She and pastor husband Joseph Bonifacio are also parents to five-year-old Philip.
