SINGAPORE — As someone who has eczema and sensitive skin, trying on sunscreens for face and body can be a terrifying ordeal (the wait after 24 hours in anticipation of breakouts). After wearing Crème Simon Daily Defense UV Protector SPF 50 on an everyday basis, I’m glad to report that this product has collected five out of five stars!

Crème Simon is a French brand founded by Joseph Simon, a pharmacist around the year 1860. The philosophy of his company was simple, that “nature provides all these needs from the outside (cosmetic) and from the inside (nutrition). Only the perfect match of both is truly efficient.”

Why this sunscreen works for my skin is that it’s an oil-free product that’s made with a hybrid of mineral and chemical filters, and combines the action of zinc oxide. There are also natural ingredients such as the botanical extracts of damask rose, neroli, iris, tonka bean, vanilla bourbon, jasmine and patchouli, that give this product a brightening and detoxifying effect too.

The best thing is, it contains none of the harmful ingredients used in your beauty products, like paraben, alcohol, silicone, oil, sulfate and colouring.

Upon application, the texture is lightweight, and it’s non-sticky. I make sure there is full coverage across four zones, including the forehead, nose, cheeks, and neck area. On some days, I only wear the sunscreen and skip my foundation as it is moisturising enough. You can also opt to use it as a makeup base.
