New release date set for "Fantastic Beasts 3"

New release date set for "Fantastic Beasts 3"

It'll be a while before we see Newt and his friends on the big screen again.

‏‏30 Apr - What was originally supposed to be a few months delay for the third "Fantastic Beasts" movie has now been confirmed as a nearly one year delay instead.

The yet to be officially titled third instalment is now set to bring its magic into North American cinemas on 12 November 2021.

It has been moved from its previous 20 November 2020 release date as the filming is only expected to begin in 2020 itself, specifically during spring.

"We are incredibly excited about and have confidence in the "Fantastic Beasts" series," said Toby Emmerich, Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, as announced on Pottermore.

"We all believe this release date will give the filmmakers time and space to allow their artistry to truly flourish and deliver the best possible film to our fans."

The delay in production was first revealed earlier this year, when it was reported that the movie needed "more prep time", hence the resulting delay of its theatrical release as well.

"Fantastic Beasts 3" will see Eddie Redmayne reprising his role as Newt Scamander and Johnny Depp back as Grindelwald. Other returning cast includes Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone and Jude Law as young Albus Dumbledore.

David Yates, who helmed the previous two instalments as well as four "Harry Potter" movies, will be returning to direct.
