Regine Velasquez denies husband's part in network transfer

19 Oct – Singer Regine Velasquez has dismissed claims that she was influenced by husband Ogie Alcasid to move to ABS-CBN.

As reported on Inquirer, the singer, who spoke to the media at her contract signing event, shared that it was her own idea to transfer to the network and that Alcasid only helped in setting up a meeting with the top management.

"If you know me like my husband knows me, you know that I'll do whatever I want," she added.

Velasquez made the statement as a clarification to previous claims made by netizens that Alcasid was the one who pushed her to leave her former network, GMA-7.

"I just want to clarify because people have been blaming him that this was his idea, but actually it's not like that," she said.

She also stressed that the Kapuso network was very supportive of her decision.

"They are happy, they are genuinely happy for me so I only have gratitude. I am so grateful to them," said Velasquez, who was part of the Kapuso network for the last 20 years.
