Reese Witherspoon added a pop of colour to her look for The Emmy Awards 2020 with a bold red lipstick, while the rest of her make-up was chic and minimalist, meaning her skincare was the star of the show.

Her make-up artist has since revealed that the products involved were all surprisingly affordable, with all the skincare products costing less than £15 each.

The awards ceremony on Sunday 21 September, took the form of a virtual ceremony hosted by Jimmy Kimmel from an empty Staples Center in Los Angeles, because of restrictions in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nominees and celebrity guests joined the ceremony digitally, but they still pulled out all the stops when it came to their style.

Witherspoon, 44, called on her glam squad to help her prepare for the annual bash, which saw her turn to hair stylist Lona Maria Vigi, and make-up artist Kelsey Deenihan.

For the do, she wore a glamorous black fitted Louis Vuitton dress, which featured bow tie detail, as well as Lune Bleue earrings from the designer.

Deenihan shared on Instagram all the details of how she created the Little Fires Everywhere actor’s look, from the skincare products to the make-up essentials.

Deenihan prepped Witherspoon’s skin prior to applying any cosmetics with a medley of The Inkey List’s lotions and potions.

The affordable skincare brand has proven to be a huge hit with shoppers.

It launched on Cult Beauty back in June, where it sold every two minutes. It is now also available to buy at Boots, lookfantastic and The Inkey List’s own site.

Explaining the routine on her Instagram account, Deenihan said: “Started with @theinkeylist Hyaluronic Acid Serum to hydrate and plump the skin followed by a few drops of @theinkeylist Q10 serum which is chalk full of antioxidants.”

She then layered on a moisturiser before working on Witherspoon’s eye area.

Her post continued: “For under the eyes I used the @theinkeylist Caffeine Eye Cream to prevent concealer from creasing as well reduce puffiness and any unwanted darkness. I finished the skin prep with @theinkeylist Polyglutamic Acid Serum which [is] the perfect makeup base or ‘primer’ to lock in moisture.”

Deenihan then went on to explain she relied on a number of products from beauty mogul Pat McGrath, including the Skin Fetish Foundation, Sublime Perfection concealer, Blurring Under-Eye Powder, the MTHERSHP MEGA Eyeshadow Palette and Dark Star Mascara.

What made this a statement look was the unmissable rouge lipstick, which was also from Pat McGrath’s beauty line: PermaGel Ultra Lip Pencil in shade Major Red, followed by Matte Trance Lipstick in Elson 2, which has since sold out at Selfridges.

Those who want to emulate Witherspoon’s full look can do so with ease, as we have found the exact skincare and beauty products to buy online.
