A reboot of 80s child-shrinking classic Honey, I Shrunk The Kids is in the pipeline, with Frozen star Josh Gad attached to star.

Slashfilm got the scoop that Disney is plotting the movie, which will be set in the 'same universe' as the original movie.

Gad will reportedly play the role of Nick Szalinski, the son of crackpot scientist and inventor Wayne Szalinski, played by the legendary Rick Moranis back in 1989.

It will be called Shrunk, and is being called a 'legecyequel' – yes, that's a portmanteau of 'legacy' and 'sequel'.

As in the first movie, Nick shrinks his kids and chaos ensues, with the endless potential for large scale props of normal sized things.

The original movie was the directorial debut of Star Wars visual effects artist Joe Johnston, who would go on to make movies like Jumanji, The Rocketeer, Jurassic Park III and more recently, Captain America: The First Avenger.

It became a sleeper hit, eventually making a massive $222.7 million from its $18 million budget, making it the highest-grossing live action Disney movie ever, a record it held for five years.

Two sequels emerged, in 1992's Honey, I Blew Up The Kid (less successful, making $76 million, but costing $40 million) and the straight-to-video Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves in 1997, Moranis's last appearance on the big screen.

Gad has appeared in a glut of Disney movies, making his name in Frozen by voicing Olaf the snowman, a role he's reprised for Frozen 2, as well as playing LeFou in the live-action Beauty and the Beast, and Mulch Diggums in the forthcoming Artemis Fowl movie.
