Rebecca Zhu in "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber"?
21 Jan – Following Tsui Hark's footsteps in revamping Jin Yong's "Return of the Condor Heroes", it was reported that Wong Jing is set to helm the remake of "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber".
As reported on On CC, the prolific director reportedly has already cast actress Rebecca Zhu to play the character Zhou Zhiruo - one of the two female leads in the novel who falls in love with the protagonist Zhang Wuji.
The role has already been portrayed by many actresses in the past, including Candice Yu (in the 1978 movie), Gigi Lai (in the 1993 film), and Gao Yuanyuan (in the 2003 TV series).
When asked about the casting, Rebecca stated that she does feel a great pressure to do it right, since all the other aforementioned actresses had given a memorable performance.
"I am honoured for the opportunity and I will do my best," she said.
As for the action scenes, Rebecca said that she is used to doing stunts since her previous two dramas required her to do so. However, this will be the first time she will be doing it in a costume.
In related news, it was reported that "Love Off the Cuff" director Pang Ho Cheung reportedly wanted to helm a remake of Jin Yong's "The Duke of Mount Deer".
