The President’s Star Charity (PSC) remains the biggest charity event in Singapore and this year will be no different.

This year’s show will take place on 10 December and will see performances by local celebrities such as Rebecca Lim, Paige Chua and Kym Ng. It will also be the first PSC to see President Halimah Yaacob as its guest-of-honour.

“The President’s Star Charity is a valuable fund-raising platform to help the less fortunate in society. Over the years, it has inspired and rallied Singaporeans from all walks of life to come together to help others in need,” she said in a press release on Monday (20 November).

She added, “Every member has a part to play in helping the community, and together we can build a more caring and inclusive society.”

Lim will be playing the piano with local music group the TENG Ensemble. Together, they will be staging a medley of four nostalgic Asian songs. During a media conference on the same day, Lim said that the PSC has been an event she looks forward to each year.

“You know the schedule that our managers will send us? I will always check towards the end to see, ‘Am I involve in the rehearsals?’” Lim, who will be participating in her third PSC, added, “It’s something to look forward to. You end the year (on) a good note.”

Meanwhile, Chua and local actor Pierre Png join the Gunong Sayang Association (GSA) for a unique performance item that combines cooking, dancing and singing.

“We had so much fun working with (GSA). They were so kind to bring food at every rehearsal,” said Chua.

Local television actress and host Kym Ng will share the stage with harpist Katryna Tan for an item called “Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence”, while veteran singer Rahimah Rahim will perform two separate items.

She will open the show with a 30-piece orchestra – called the Orkestra Melayu Singapura – and close it with a solo performance of Dionne Warwick’s “What The World Needs Now Is Love”.
