Real-Life Silence Of The Lambs House Fails To Sell

It turns out that not many people want to live in the house from ‘The Silence of the Lambs’.

The three-story Victorian property was the home of serial killer Buffalo Bill in the 1991 thriller, ‘The Silence of the Lambs’.

But while hordes of film fans have turned up to poke around the home of everyone’s favourite big screen murderer, it seems that nobody is willing to stump up the cash to buy the place.

Perhaps for obvious reasons…

Buffalo Bill – played by Ted Levine in ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ – kidnapped several young woman, bringing them back to the property in order to kill and skin them… all in the name of making his very own ‘woman suit’.

Creepy.

It’s easy to see why house hunters might be put off… even if the scenes depicted in the film didn’t actually happen. And the basement where Buffalo Bill kept his victims? Thankfully, that was all filmed elsewhere, and isn’t one of the more interesting features of the home.

The iconic property is located about 35 miles south of Pittsburgh in the remote village of Layton, and is owned by Scott and Barbara Lloyd.

But despite becoming the second-most-viewed house on property website Realtor.com, they understand why most folks just weren’t willing to put down their hard-earned cash.

“We know there are people interested, but it comes down to who wants a home like that?” said realtor, Dianne Wilk of RE/MAX in an interview with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

“We got the message out to the curious, but not to the people who are interested in actually buying,” explained owner Scott Lloyd. “We’re finally starting to get a little bit of motion.”

But if you fancy owning a piece of film history, now could be the perfect time.

After appearing on the market since last summer, the asking price has been reduced from $300,000 to just $250,000.

Let’s just hope they get a killer offer sometime soon.
