25 Jan Following reports that Raymond Gutierrez had thrown a birthday party for himself at a restaurant despite COVID restrictions, La Picara Restaurant at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig has been reportedly closed down for protocol violations.

As reported on GMA News, the issue sparked after photos of Gutierrez made the rounds online, as he celebrated his birthday surrounded by fellow party-goers with no apparent social distancing, with only a clarification on the said photo that "everyone was PCR tested".

Photos from the event went viral on Twitter, with many slamming Gutierrez and his fellow guests of the lack of accountability.

Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano released an official statement soon after, saying that establishments in Taguig that endanger the health and safety of their customers and employees will be engaged immediately, and that repeated violators will be closed down.

"We will not allow a few irresponsible establishments to compromise our efforts in making Taguig a model community for living in the new normal. We will strive to implement health and safety protocols so that businesses in Taguig can thrive. The City Government has been in constant dialogue with BGC, Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation (FBDC) officials, and other stakeholders. Our joint efforts have kept Taguig, including BGC, as one of the safest cities to live, work, and do business in," the statement read.

In another post, Cayetano also urged influencers to set a good example, saying that a negative result is not a ticket to socialise without precautions.

"A test result detects the virus at one point in time. It only means that COVID-19 is undetected at the time and place you were swabbed. To the influencers, the present situation calls for you to set the right example and do the right thing for everyone's safety. People look up to you and admire you. This responsibility should not be taken lightly. Now is the time to use your platform, do good, and perform your civic duty to society," she added.

Gutierrez has yet to respond regarding the issue.
