The reviews are in... and it sounds like Pixar fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Until someone decides to put a fly in the ointment, the final chapter of the beloved animation series has a perfect 100 percent 'fresh' score on Rotten Tomatoes.

That means that all the reviews so far are positive – and for the most part, pretty glowing.

Concerns among fans that things should have been left well enough alone, following the perfect end to the trilogy in Toy Story 3, appear to have been calmed.

The movie, helmed by Josh Cooley, who has worked on movies from Ratatouille and Up to Inside Out, finds Forky (Tony Hale), a hand-crafted spork made by Bonnie, joining the group.

But when he runs away during a family road trip, Woody has to head out into the world and rescue him.

In a five-star review, The Times' writes: “Sweet Lord, this is good. You know that you’re in the presence of genius when the first five minutes of what is ostensibly the third sequel to a 24-year-old children’s cartoon about talking toys is revealed to contain more depth, more thought-provoking content and more soulful passion than any Hollywood movie released this year so far.”

The Independent went full five-star too, remarking: “It takes some kind of genius for the Pixar animators to give such a searing emotional charge to a story in which one of the main characters is a single use plastic spork retrieved from the trash.”

The Daily Mirror – another fiver-starrer – calls it a 'charm-bomb of animated adventure' while Total Film notes 'Toy Story 5 now seems like rather a good idea'.

Careful now... they might have got away with tampering with something that was already done and dusted, but some are marginally less convinced.

Reckons Empire: “It might not take us to the epic highs of its predecessors - which is, to be fair, a skyscraping bar to reach - but Toy Story 4 is certainly the strongest fourth series instalment since Mad Max hit that Fury Road.”

Meanwhile, The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw calls it 'a superior anti-climax', offering up a less glowing three stars (a positive review in Rotten Tomatoes' metric, meaning it is still rated as a 'fresh' review).

“I’m happy to see it happen. Toy Story 4 isn’t at all bad. But it’s time to let go.”

Toy Story 4 is out across the UK on June 21.
