Rachel Brosnahan likes to unwind with a face mask.
The 29-year-old actress revealed in an interview with Fashionista that she is obsessed with face masks, and enjoys taking time out from her hectic schedule to relax and unwind with a treatment.
"I really like the forced meditation of masks. Once you put a mask on, you can't really do anything else, you're kind of just forced to be still and let it do its magic," she said. "I love like putting on a mask, laying in my bed, snuggling my puppies and like listening to a podcast or something."
Rachel doesn’t wear much make-up when she’s off-duty, but she’s learned the power of a bold lipstick through playing 1950s housewife-turned-comedienne Midge Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
"I never really wore lipstick in my everyday life, it's still not something I use very often, but I have a real appreciation now for how literally even if you do nothing else, putting on a bold lip can wake up your whole face and make you feel more awake than you feel on the inside," she shared.
The Emmy-winning actress is also thankful that she isn’t expected to wear as much make-up as women did in the ‘50s.
"Midge's beauty routine is so different from mine and upon first glance, I think the immediate response from me as well and so many other people has been that, gosh, like society expected women to look a certain way — what a burden," she added, noting that in the show, her character applies a full face of make-up before her husband wakes up.
"But Midge's routine makes her feel powerful. And although mine is really different, it's what makes me feel good.”
