'Queer Eye' Fans Bombard Bobby Berk After He Announces Huge Career News
Queer Eye fans might want to sit down for a moment because we have some news: Bobby Berk is leaving the Netflix reality series after the next season. The designer announced his time on the show is coming to an end in a heartfelt Instagram post—simultaneously confirming the show is returning for season eight, which will be his final installment. Naturally, Berk's costars, friends, and fans all flooded the comments to say how much he'll be missed.
Berk began the post by addressing the Queer Eye community, saying everyone in it has become like family to him. He wrote: "The love that I have received from you all over the last 6 years has been absolutely surreal. You have tuned in and been dedicated fans and together we were able to share the healing powers of design. I learned from you all about kindness, love, and acceptance and that has changed my life for the better. The way you have embraced me and accepted me for who I am is something that l will truly carry with me for the rest of my life. Throughout these years, you, the die-hard fans of Queer Eye, have all shared so many stories with me about how the show has touched your lives and I could not be more grateful to each and every one of you for being brave enough to share your experiences."
The designer then spoke to the show's guest stars—the people who receive a lifestyle makeover from the Fab Five. "To all our wonderful, loving, amazing, and brave heroes there is so much I want to say, and so much gratitude I want to express to you all for letting me into your homes and hearts," he wrote. "It's all because of you that I've kept going all these years and each and every one of you have changed me for the better."
He added: "I'm so very proud of all of you! Being able to help guide you to find the best version of yourselves is something I never took for granted and never will."
Berk then revealed the bittersweet news, "with a heavy heart," stating that season eight will be his final season on Queer Eye. "It’s not been an easy decision to be at peace with, but a necessary one," he wrote. "Although my journey with Queer Eye is over, my journey with you is not. You will be seeing more of me very soon."
He ended his message by writing, "I love you all so so much and I’ll meet you all in Nola for one final season. #foreverthefab5."
Berk's Queer Eye costars shared their love for him in the comments. "@bobby we are #ForeverTheFab5 | no matter what," Karamo Brown wrote. "I’m about to be at Netflix's door & e-mails telling them you can't leave! Who is coming with me? 😢😍 I love you!"
Jonathan Van Ness left a simple comment with three red heart emojis. Antoni Porowski added, "#foreverthefab5 indeed, and don't forget it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."
Fans of the show also left comments expressing how much of an impact Berk has made and wishing him the best in all of his future endeavors. "Let me add my voice to the hundreds of thousands: Your love and light and kindness made this show beautiful," one person wrote. "People became more beautiful under the weight of the love you showed every single person."
Another added, "I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to make but you will be missed. Will be excited to see where you go from here on."
Someone else commented, "We will miss you in the show my friend and no matter what, IT WILL NOT BE THE SAME WITHOUT YOU!"
The official Queer Eye Instagram account also shared the news, confirming Queer Eye is coming back for season eight on January 24, 2024 and that the New Orleans-based season will be Berk's last "after six incredible years of life-changing transformations."
Of course, fans are curious if the show will continue after season eight with a new designer on the team. While there's no word yet, we're sure there are plenty of great designers out there who could help try and fill the Bobby-Berk-sized hole left in viewers' hearts.
