When the Queen gave her speech to Parliament this morning, her clothes also did some of the talking. The monarch sported a blue dress and hat for the Queen's Speech today, but it didn't take long for viewers to take note of her accessory, which featured a cluster of yellow flowers that apparently resembled the flag of the European Union.

Some eagle-eyed onlookers interpreted the look as the royal's subtle way of showing her side in the Brexit debate. (She even presented a Brexit-centric agenda in her speech to Parliament this morning.) Several tweeters also made the connection, and even praised the Queen for her choice of accessory:

Buckingham Palace hasn't commented on the hat, but there is a reason why the monarch ditched her traditional crown and royal garb for a more casual look - she apparently didn't have enough time to prepare for the event with the usual pomp. Due to scheduling issues, she decided to scale back on the regal formalities, BBC reports. Her decision was announced shortly after the snap election was called in April.

Whether the Queen's look was a covert political statement or just the latest installment of her colorful wardrobe, she undeniably looked great.
