18 Nov – Good news for "Puteri Gunung Ledang" (PGL) fans, the epic film is set to be made available exclusively in Southeast Asia on popular video streaming platform Netflix starting from this 26 November.

Director Saw Teong Hin said that the movie's release on the platform will allow viewers from the region, especially the younger generation, to get to know more about Malaysian culture.

""Puteri Gunung Ledang" was my first film, and very close to my heart. The film is based on a legend that many Malaysians have grown up with, and is an important part of our cultural heritage.

"I'm excited to share this film again with Malaysians and a regional audience, especially the younger generation who may not have had a chance to watch it yet", Saw shared in a statement.

The movie was Malaysia's first big-budget film, produced by Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina through her production company Enfiniti (M) Sdn. Bhd. It opened in cinemas on 31 August 2004, successfully making RM16.6. million during its run.

It not only nabbed five wins at the 2004 Malaysia Film Festival, it also earned international recognition when it was long-listed at number 49 in the 76th Academy Awards' Best Foreign Language Film category.

Set in 15th-century Malacca, "Puteri Gunung Ledang" tells the love story between a Javanese Hindu princess, Gusti Putri, and a Malay warrior, Hang Tuah. The cast features impressive talents such as Datuk M. Nasir, Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, Datuk Rahim Razali and Adlin Aman Ramlie.

Previously, Enfiniti (M) Sdn. Bhd. released a producer's cut version of the movie on its YouTube channel in celebration of the movie's 10th anniversary.
