One risk of working in fashion is that every so often, a truly impractical item grabs hold of my attention, and continues to intermittently hit me with pangs of "The Shoppies" despite the fact that my budget can in no way accommodate it. The Bottega Veneta Cassette Intrecciato Nylon Cross-Body Bag has officially become one such obsession.

Imagine, if you will, that Bottega Veneta's iconic cross-body Cassette bag had a lovechild with an overstuffed nylon sleeping bag — that is precisely the vibe this piece channels, and I've become utterly fixated on it. Technically a men's accessory (but gender is simply a construct, and even more so where handbags are concerned), this padded woven cross-body is sporty and casual in a way that I myself aspire to be as a person. I spotted a chic fellow Upper East Sider wearing it while on a recent spring walk around my neighborhood, and I simply haven't been able to stop thinking about its perfect blend of effortlessness and luxury ever since.

Sure, you could get a smaller version of it in leather for a modest $400 more — but look at how puffy and pillow-like this one is!
