This weekend Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank revealed they had named their newborn son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

They shared the sweet news in a post on Instagram alongside an adorable picture of the happy family together.

The Queen's granddaughter, 30, can be seen helping her husband, 35, cradle their little boy, while wearing a cream funnel-necked dress and blush pink lightweight coat.

She finished off her relaxed but stylish look with a mustard yellow headband that came complete with a luxurious velvet finish.

The statement accessory is by American brand Jennifer Brehr and costs circa £170, and as well as in 'topaz' – the royal's chosen shade – it also comes in 'black' and 'terra cotta'.

Known as the 'Thada Headband', it is handmade in New York from silk velvet and has one inch of padding, as well as a "comfortable, pinch-free fit".

It is described on the label's website as having "plenty of height", and is a "versatile way to add polish to any look".

The new portrait – which revealed the face of Her Majesty's ninth great-grandchild for the first time since he was born on 9 February – received more than 476,000 'likes' from social media users.

Captioning the image, the princess wrote: "Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can't express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you."

She added that the photo had been taken by "our wonderful midwife".

The couple also explained the meaning behind their first child's name.

Writing on her Instagram Story, the princess revealed: "On his grandfather’s birthday weekend, thinking of my grandfather, we are introducing our little boy. He is named after his great grandfather and both of his great x5 grandfathers."

Indeed, Augustus was the middle name of the royal's great-great-great-great-grandfather, Prince Albert, and Philip is a nod to her grandfather, who remains in hospital.

Hawke was the middle name of her husband's great-great-great-great-grandfather, Rev Edward Hawke Brooksbank.

The mention of Augustus' grandfather's birthday weekend is in reference to Prince Andrew turning 61 on Friday.

It comes after the princess wore a £90 tartan dress to depart hospital after giving birth earlier this month.

For the trip home – most likely to the family's new base of Frogmore Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle – the new royal mother wore a comfy, and rather affordable, tartan frock.

The 'Ellie Nap Dress' is from US brand Hill House, and costs $125 – or approximately £90.

It features ruffle sleeves, a square neckline, elasticated smocking and a tiered midi-skirt, and is also available in a number of other tartan shades as well as floral patterns.

According to Hill House's website, it's "soft, comfortable, and pretty enough to wear all day and night".

What's more, it's pregnancy and breastfeeding-friendly, allowing room for a growing bump, as well as easy nursing access via the stretchy neckline.
