There have been hundreds of birthday messages for the Duke of York today (19 February) but the sweetest has been posted by his youngest daughter Princess Eugenie.

The 28-year-old royal shared a couple of black and white photographs of her father Prince Andrew from his childhood, including one with the Queen, on her Instagram account.

Eugenie also included a photo of her dad proudly walking her down the aisle on her wedding day last October, when she married long-term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank, as well as a candid shot of the Duke smiling, sitting in what appears to be a restaurant.

The princess included a caption, which read: “Happy Birthday to you Papa… we are so proud of you in everything you have achieved in your 59 years!!”

Eugenie wasn’t the only one in Prince Andrew’s immediate family to post a public birthday tribute. They may have divorced in 1996, but he and his ex wife Sarah Ferguson have remained good friends and the duchess sent birthday wishes to the duke with a couple of photos on her Instagram account.

Andrew and Sarah’s eldest daughter Princess Beatrice, 30, has a social media account of her own but it has remained private.

Prince Andrew Albert Christian Edward, is the third child and second son of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Born on 19 February, 1960, at Buckingham Palace, he is currently seventh in line to the throne.

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s baby arrives, Andrew will be bumped down to eighth in line.

He was created the Duke of York by Her Majesty, on his wedding day to Sarah Ferguson in 1986.
