Princess Diana was adored by millions around the world and her tragic death in 1997 resulted in a outpouring of grief from the public.

From her charity work to her style, she captured the hearts of the nation and she became one of the most photographed women on the planet. But her former personal trainer, Jenni Rivett has revealed something poignant about the late princess.

Speaking on episode 7 of Yahoo UK’s show ‘The Royal Box’, Rivett said: “She was an incredibly compassionate human being, she had such a great sense of humour and she could light up a room… there was always a sadness in her eyes though.”

She added: “I think it was about her adversity with her marriage. Deep down inside, she just wanted to be Princess Diana, doing a great job and being a wonderful ambassador for Great Britain.

“And yet, she was as she said, in her own words, she was always the third person, there were three people in her marriage.

“Deep down inside, she was very sad about that. She married for the right reasons.”
