'Instagram vs reality': Two more playful photos of Prince Louis released to celebrate second birthday

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released two additional photos of their youngest son Louis, to celebrate his second birthday.

The couple shared three images of the tot, taken by mum Kate, on Wednesday.

Two further, more playful, images were shared a day later.

The parents-of-three have already alluded to the chaos of having a two-year-old during lockdown.

But now they have shown that things aren’t always perfect in their Norfolk home, with one of the the photographs showing Louis looking very messy.

The couple shared pictures of the young royal making a rainbow handprint painting to thank NHS and key workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a cute outtake, the duchess showed what really happened behind the scenes, as Louis could not resist the temptation to paint his own face.

Alongside the pictures, Kensington Royal wrote: “Instagram vs Reality.

“Thank you for your lovely messages on Prince Louis’ second birthday 🌈. We are very pleased to share today, on Prince Louis second birthday, new photographs taken by The Duchess this April.”

Princess Eugenie commented below with a heart emoji.

Clarence House has also shared a birthday message for Prince Louis.

In a previously unseen photo, Prince Charles hugs his tiny grandson, who puts his arms around his grandfather.

It’s not clear when the picture was taken but both grandfather and grandson look to be in summer clothes.

The Royal Family has also shared the images of Prince Louis taken by the Duchess of Cambridge and wished him a happy birthday.

The caption read: “Happy Birthday to Prince Louis who is celebrating his second birthday today.

“Prince Louis is The Queen’s seventh great-grandchild.”

Louis’s cousins include Savannah and Isla, the daughters of Peter and Autumn Phillips, and Mia and Lena, the daughters of Zara and Mike Tindall. His youngest cousin is Archie, the son of Harry and Meghan.

Louis is the second royal this week to celebrate their birthday, as the Queen, his great-grandmother, turned 94 on Tuesday.

Any party plans by the Cambridges will have to have been scaled back as the UK continues to stay in lockdown to cope with the coronavirus pandemic.

While filming with Mary Berry for the BBC, Kate revealed she loves to bake, so could well have whipped up the young royal’s cake for today.

And William confirmed that the Royal Family has been keeping in touch with video calls, so there could be some more zoom chats with family today.

William previously said they had problems at both ends of the age range, with older members dropping the computers, and Louis trying to press red buttons during calls.
