Prince Harry wears military attire to marry Meghan Markle

Prince Harry stayed true to royal groom tradition and donned military attire for his wedding to Meghan Markle in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle today.
Wearing the iconic black frockcoat uniform of the Blues and Royals, Harry arrived at the venue matching his brother and best man William, the Duke of Cambridge.
The Queen gave her permission for Prince Harry to get married in his uniform.
Both uniforms were tailored at Dege & Skinner on Savile Row.
Harry’s outfit
Harry’s frockcoat is made from blue doeskin. It is single-breasted in style with a stand-up collar, complete with figured braiding of Regimental pattern. The uniform was cut and made by hand. The sleeve pattern is intricate in detail and took one person one week to complete.
The frockcoat is ranked to Major with large gold embroidered crowns. The badge on the left chest is Pilots’ Wings attained whilst serving with the Army Air Corps for flying Apache helicopters.
The four medal ribbons below the Wings are, from left to right: K.C.V.O., Afghanistan with rosette, The Queen’s Golden Jubilee and The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The trousers, officially called ‘overalls’, are made from a blue and black wool barathea and are fastened by a leather strap and buckle underneath the boot. They would have traditionally been worn on horseback.
The hat is a Blues and Royals Forage Cap.
There is a white buckskin waist belt with Regimental buckle and slings but no sword.

William’s outfit
The best man is wearing the same uniform as the Groom, also to the Rank of Major.
The Wings are those attained flying helicopters whilst serving with the RAF, the two medals below from left to right are: Queen’s Golden Jubilee and Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The Duke of Cambridge is also wearing the Garter Star.
As an Aide-de-Camp to Her Majesty The Queen, The Duke is wearing the EIIR cyphers on his shoulder straps along with a gold Aiguillette on his right shoulder.
We were fist given a look at Harry’s wedding attire as he headed into the chapel 11.35am alongside his best man and brother, the Duke of Cambridge.
The 33-year-old’s uniform is a sartorial mark of respect for the regiment he took over as Captain General Royal Marines in December last year.
His prestigious role was announced by Queen Elizabeth II after his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, stepped down after 64 years at the helm.
In a touching gesture, fellow servicemen from the regiment are currently lining the procession route also dressed in their ‘Blues’ regalia
Prince William’s wedding outfit
Today, it is impossible for the nation not to draw parallels between Harry’s wedding attire and the uniform that his brother, the Duke of Cambridge, donned on his big day.

This was consequently due to the fact that he was appointed the title of Colonel of the Irish Guards by the Queen just two months prior to the ceremony.
Of course, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s nuptials was also a largely traditional affair due to his status as second-in-line to the throne. He also added further regal pomp and pageantry with the Garter Sash which bears the Wings of the Royal Air Force, the Garter Star and the Golden Jubilee Medal.
Harry on the other hand, wore his traditional uniform of the Captain of the Household Cavalry’s Blue and Royals for his role of best man.
Meghan is expected to arrive at St George’s Chapel at [TIME] where the couple will tie the knot with over two billion royal fans from across the globe expected to tune in.
The newlyweds will then greet the 200 charity representatives gathered in the Cloister before beginning their 25-minute procession through the streets of Windsor.
