Prince Harry will make another visit to the United Kingdom very soon.
As Bazaar.com has learned, the Duke of Sussex will attend the 2023 WellChild Awards in London on September 7. The royal has been a patron of WellChild, a U.K. charity for children with health conditions, for 15 years, and has attended the awards 11 times before.
The awards celebrate the inspirational qualities of young people living with serious medical issues and honor those around them who work to keep them healthy and happy, per the charity.
Over the years, Harry “has provided invaluable help—equally in raising awareness and financial contributions—to ensure the charity can pursue its mission to improve the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families,” WellChild said in a statement.
At this year’s event, the royal will spend time with each winner and their families at a pre-ceremony reception. Later, he will attend the ceremony and present the award for Inspirational Child (ages 4 to 6), as well as deliver a speech.
“For nearly 20 years, WellChild has been transforming the lives of children and young people across the U.K., providing critical care that prioritizes the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of these individuals and their families,” Harry said in a statement shared with Bazaar. “The courage and strength embodied by these young people—and the tireless devotion of those who support them—never cease to inspire me. I’m honoured to attend this year’s awards ceremony and celebrate their incredible work.”
It’s unclear if the prince will reunite with his royal family while in London. The last time he was there was in June, to testify against Mirror Group Newspapers over alleged unlawful information gathering, amid his ongoing lawsuit against them. Harry also visited London in May, for father King Charles III’s coronation.
Days after his upcoming visit, Harry is set to fly to Germany for the Invictus Games, where wife Duchess Meghan will join him, Bazaar has learned.
