Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Quietly Moved to Santa Barbara Last Month

The Sussexes have found a new home.

According to a spokesperson for the royal couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bought a new home in Santa Barbara, California last month, a beach town about 100 miles north of Los Angeles.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into their family home in July of this year," said the couple's spokesperson. "They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope that this will be respected for their neighbors as well as for them as a family."

The Sussexes' Santa Barbara move follows the couple's two major relocations earlier this year. After announcing their decision to step away from the royal family back in January, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their young son Archie Mountbatten Windsor spent time in a remote part of Vancouver Island, Canada before heading to Meghan's home town of Los Angeles. People reported that the pair temporarily stayed in Tyler Perry's Beverly Hills mansion while they searched for their new family residence.

Harry and Meghan's big move also allows the couple to be closer to family friend, Oprah Winfrey, who owns multiple properties in the surrounding area, People points out. Actor Robe Lowe and Ellen DeGeneres also live in the Sussexes' new neighborhood.

Since moving to the west coast, the Sussexes have remained dedicated to their philanthropy work, even while adjusting to life abroad. Though the couple have kept a low public profile due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, they have made time to meet with Black resistance organizations, make virtual graduation addresses, and volunteer with local charities.
