President Donald Trump addressed the nation via Facebook Live on Friday in what’s billed as his “weekly address,” saying the advancement of women entrepreneurs and business leaders is one of his top priorities.
Trump opened the address by discussing “major” steps he has taken to remove “wasteful regulations” that will allow Americans to get “back to work.” He then turned his attention to women.
“To truly succeed as a country, we must realize our full potential of women in our economy,” Trump said in the three-minute pre-taped video. “As president, I am committed to ensuring women entrepreneurs have equal access to the capitol, markets and networks of support that they need.”
He continued: “This is a priority for my administration. I campaigned on helping women in the workforce and we are going to deliver on that promise.”
The weekly address was announced by Trump himself on Twitter and was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., but a five-minute countdown clock appeared at the scheduled start time, building anticipation for the self-proclaiming ratings guru.
Just yesterday, Trump conducted a wild news conference where he also said he “inherited a mess” at home and abroad. He also turned his attention, of course, to the media.
“The press has become so dishonest, that if we don’t talk about it, we are doing a tremendous disservice to the American people,” Trump said. “The press, honestly, is out of control. The level of dishonesty is out of control.”
Believe it or not, Trump didn’t criticize the media during Friday’s weekly address.
