Power Rangers sequel in jeopardy?
It looks as though ‘Power Rangers’ didn’t go down well…
And that could mean it won’t be getting a sequel.
According to Forbes, the recent ‘Power Rangers’ reboot made a tiny amount in its China debut… and that might well mean we don’t get a sequel.
“Power Rangers is the real tragedy, earning just $1.2m on its first day and arguably sealing its fate,” they reveal. “Barring a post-theatrical miracle, it’s one-and-done for the Power Rangers franchise.”

This follows a disappointing US run, too.
‘Power Rangers’ has earned a miniscule $135.4 million at the global box office, with a domestic haul of just $40 million. Considering it was made on a $100 million production budget, that doesn’t exactly bode well.
Apparently, it all hinged on the Chinese market to swing this around.
But now it looks as though it’s game over for the ‘Power Rangers’.
After all, Lionsgate is unlikely to greenlight a follow-up, with the new movie barely scraping enough at the box office to recoup its budget.
The sad part? ‘Power Rangers’ was actually pretty good.
At least, it was a lot better than the cheesy series or the big screen efforts which preceded it.
Unfortunately, it looks as though mixed reviews and a lack of interest beyond the hardcore fanbase has likely killed off the ambitious reboot. And unless it sees a renaissance in DVD and Blu-ray sales, it’s likely that this incarnation of the ‘Power Rangers’ will be laid to rest.
Still, at least we got one good ‘Power Rangers’ movie.
