‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Rounds Out Main Cast With ‘This Is Us’ Alum Melanie Liburd and More

“Power” may have come to an end this weekend after six season, but like the hashtag said on the teaser that accompanied the series finale, #PowerNeverEnds, and so it is that Starz has released the full main cast for the show’s first spinoff, “Power Book II: Ghost.”

Newcomers to the “Power” universe include Daniel Bellomy (“The Real MVP: The Wanda Durrant Story”) as “Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Cross”; Paige Hurd (“The Oval,” “Hawaii Five-O”) as “Lauren,” Melanie Liburd (“This is Us,” “Gypsy”) as “Caridad ‘Carrie’ Milgram,” Justin McManus (“Star”) as “Jabari Reynolds,” Woody McClain (“The Bobby Brown Story,” “The New Edition Story”) as “Cane Tejada,” Lovell Adams-Gray (“Coroner,” “Slasher”) as “Dru Tejada,” and LaToya Tonedeo (“The Oath”) as “Diana Tejada.”

They join fellow “Power” newcomers Mary J. Blige and Cliff “Method Man” Smith, and returning “Power” mainstays Michael Rainey Jr. as Tariq St. Patrick, Shane Johnson as Cooper Saxe, and Naturi Naughton as Tasha St. Patrick. Other returning “Power” cast are Gianni Paolo (“Ma,” “The Fosters”) as Brayden, Tariq’s roommate, and Quincy Tyler Bernstine (“Ray Donovan,” “Modern Love”) as defense attorney “Tameika Washington.”

“Power Book II: Ghost” picks up almost right after “Power” left off, beginning days after the crazy events of the series finale that aired on Sunday night (and finally — finally — revealed who shot Ghost). The sequel follows Tariq as he navigates his new life in college, as his hopes of shedding his father’s duplicitous legacy come up against mounting pressure to save his family.

Series creator Courtney A. Kemp will return as showrunner with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson once again serving as executive producer. Lionsgate TV produces the show for Starz.

Luckily for fans of “Power,” “Power Book II: Ghost” is only the first sequel to the hit show. It will be followed by one prequel and two spinoffs focused on other iconic characters including Kanan (Jackson), Councilman Tate (Larenz Tate) and Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora).
