If you are hoping to get in a last-minute marriage proposal this Valentine’s Day, you’re in luck as Poundland is still selling £1 engagement rings today.

The discount retailer has confirmed to Yahoo UK there are still 6,000 “Bling Ring” engagement rings left, out of an original supply of 40,000 when they first launched last month.

“The buyers really do wish they’d bought more,” a representative for Poundland told us.

The engagement rings are available in a range of styles, including one with a red heart-shaped jewel in the centre, a blue marquise shaped stone, and a round faux-diamond.

While they are marketed as a “placeholder ring”, some may consider the budget ring to be a testament to their priceless nature of love. Whether their partners agree is another matter entirely.

Over a million of us will get engaged this Valentine’s Day, with nearly one in 10 saying they would use the ‘most romantic day of the year’ to pop the question.

Poundland has also released a £5 vibrator as part of its sex toy range, designed to be used to spice up a relationship or for solo time.

Elsewhere, you can buy a “Love Sausage” from Marks & Spencer for a romantic breakfast, or a heart-shaped rib eye steak for two from Morrison’s.

And they say romance is dead.
