When a baby boy is born, parents have to decide whether the child should get circumcised or not. But as Stewart tells it, sometimes they lie about their decision.
During his appearance on the Graham Norton Show, Patrick Stewart decided to tell the story of how he found out he wasn’t circumcised.
Since Stewart was a little boy, his mother let him think that he was circumcised. So much so that he went his entire life thinking he was. One day, he mentioned this to his wife. To Patrick Stewart’s surprise, his wife very bluntly told him he wasn’t.
Talk about a very awkward topic. Obviously, Patrick thought she was joking or playing some kind of trick on him. After all, you can’t go your whole life thinking you’re circumcised, and then learn you aren’t!
Well. It turns out you can.
Stewart ended up asking his doctor about it, who took a look and said Stewart’s wife was right:
“While he was down there, I said, ‘Oh, by the way, Irv, my wife and I are in a little disagreement. I am circumcised, aren’t I? Because she says I’m not.’ He goes, ‘Not.'”
How Patrick Stewart went his entire life without knowing he was circumcised is a mystery! The moral of the story is, if you aren’t sure — Google it. It will save you a lot of awkward conversations with your physician.
