Pirates 5 promo reveals the return of Will Turner

Will Turner is back in a new clip from ‘Pirates 5’.

But it looks as though the sea hasn’t been kind to him…

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge’ is already shaping up as one of this year’s big summer blockbusters… and with the return of Johnny Depp as the charismatic Captain Jack, it’s easy to see why. But he’s not the only returning pirate in the upcoming sequel.

That’s right – Orlando Bloom is back. But he looks a bit different.

The new promo video is heavy on the action, with a number of intriguing shots of Johnny Depp facing off against a horde of zombie’s led by Javier Bardem as the presumably evil Captain Salazar.

But we also get a brief glimpse of Will Turner…

And it’s very reminiscent of a scene earlier in the franchise.

Here, Will Turner catches up with his son, Henry – a character who seemingly sets off on his own adventures in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’. Of course, it’s not quite the family reunion he was hoping for… After all, Will is still in command of The Flying Dutchman.

That means he’s still cursed to ferry dead souls to the afterlife.

And can only set foot on land every ten years.

So it looks as though the young Turner lad has tracked down his father, much the same as Will Turner tracked down his own father – a seaman known as Bootstrap Bill, serving Davey Jones aboard The Flying Dutchman in ‘Dead Man’s Chest’.

Will Henry Turner eventually suffer the same fate?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But I get the feeling we might well have to endure several more of these ‘Pirates’ movies to find out.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge’ stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, Geoffrey Rush, and Orlando Bloom.

Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg directed the film based on a script by Jeff Nathanson.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge’ heads to cinemas on 26 May 2017.
