Pia Wurtzbach consulted a therapist during Miss Universe reign

8 Feb – Pia Wurtzbach recently admitted that she actually consulted a therapist during her reign as Miss Universe back in 2015.

As reported on ABS-CBN, the actress, who opened up about the fact that she went to therapy sessions, stated that she had to make a lot of lifestyle changes after becoming Miss Universe and needed to talk it out with a professional.

"Suddenly, your life changed overnight and I need time to kind of absorb everything that's going on and really make sure that I'm okay and that I don't get overwhelmed," she said.

It is noted that Wurtzbach had to relocate to New York for a year after winning the pageant, which made her homesick - an added stress to her already mounting number of duties as Miss Universe.

"You miss your family, you think about them, you think about the people back home," she said.

The actress, who was only the third Filipina to win the crown after Gloria Diaz and Margarita Moran, added that the attention she got also meant that every little mistake she did would be magnified, and that her love life was even scrutinised because of it.

Pia, who was dating Youtube-famous doctor Mike Varshavski at the time, stated, "People back home didn't really approve of that idea because, they felt like, 'You're Miss Universe, you should be focusing on your reign.' It affected me. That really hurt me and I felt like I'm very hard on myself."

Pia is currently dating travel-editor and entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey.

Pia was born in Germany and grew up in Philippines, as her father was a German. He passed away in 2014. Pia can speak English, Tagalog and German.
