SINGAPORE – The Singapore Motorshow 2020 kicked off at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre today (9 January) across two floors with much fanfare. This year, Audi, Nissan and Chinese owned-brands BYD and MG debut electric car models at the show.
Audi makes its market introduction with the e-tron, a full electric model that boasts up to 300kW, thanks to its two electric motors. It also comes with an integrated electrohydraulic brake control system, and Audi claims to be the first carmaker to use such a solution in an electrically powered series production vehicle.
Nissan, on the other hand, debuts the Singapore-exclusive limited edition tokidoki Nissan Serena e-Power and Nissan Leaf models, which are available for purchase until March 2021.
Chinese brands BYD and MG make for a play in the local market with the BYD Song Max EV, which is an electric MPV model, and the MG ZS.
A total of 36 brands are exhibiting this year, with over 100 vehicles on display for car buyers to shop from. Not only that, a number of aftermarket exhibitors are showcasing their automotive accessories, lifestyle products and services.
