PHOTOS: Ikea x Virgil Abloh collection drops 31 October

SINGAPORE – Millennials wanting to make a statement with their home can soon decorate their abode with Ikea x Virgil Abloh’s collection. The designer of streetwear label Off-White has collaborated with Ikea to turn everyday home objects into design icons.

Abloh worked alongside Ikea’s creative leader Henrik Most to research on what young adults yearn for when they move into their own homes for the first time – the result of that research is the Markerad collection.

The items come with an element of surprise: for example, a glass cabinet that comes with a handle in the shape of a red nail, or the minimalist Markerad chair that’s fitted with a doorstop on one of the legs.

Abloh’s iconic quotation marks are also splattered across items like a rug and even Ikea’s Frakta shopping bags.

The Markerad collection will be retailing in Ikea stores only in limited quantities from 31 October 2019 onwards. Each customer is strictly limited to two pieces per Markerad product and four dining chairs on a first-come-first-served basis, while stocks last.
