PHOTOS: Fashion items you can buy from Fiona Xie's wardrobe

SINGAPORE — If you’ve always envied Crazy Rich Asians actress Fiona Xie’s fashion style, now you can own a piece of her wardrobe. Luxury and pre-owned fashion platform Vestiaire Collective is partnering with Fiona to sell 20 special pieces from her personal collection, to raise funds for SUPERHERO ME, a non-profit inclusive arts movement that helps children from less privileged communities and with special needs.

Jean Loo, co-founder of SUPERHERO ME, tells Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore that the charity sale is a fun, wonderful, and creative way to create awareness about inclusion, to people who might not know about children with special needs. She adds, “Beyond awareness, I hope members of the public will look out for those with special needs in their communities. A smile, nod or high five goes a long way in encouraging caregivers. Conversation on inclusion, or even volunteering with special education schools can help lessen the stigma around disability. The public is welcome to write to us if they’ve got fun ideas to bring children with and without special needs together, and come for our inclusive art events!"

Fashion and raising funds for charity - count us in! Curating just 20 items for a sale can be a daunting experience for any fashionista, so we asked Fiona, how did she do it and why working with a charity like SUPERHERO ME is so important to her.

Why did you agree to partake in this event?

A (wardrobe) purge is never near. Everything sparks joy! I love vintage and have always kept my beloved items like sacred treasure, or gifted them to cousins to share the love. I wanted to do this Charity Sale with Vestiaire Collective to kickstart a new journey of letting go and giving my wardrobe a fresh lease on life. I am always in support of sustainability, as well as leveraging my position to help others. I have been so blessed, and it’s always good to pay it forward.

How many items did you pick before narrowing down to 20? Be honest.

I actually don’t have that much. I gave all that I can within the short time frame that we had. This was meant to be a collective effort with more people involved, but it was surprising to find out how people are unwilling to part with their items, or don’t have designer items to donate and it was quite hard to gather other partners. My hope is to work further with SUPERHERO ME to find more ways of getting people involved to help out in other capacities.

What is your favourite shopping destination, and why?

Curated multi-label stores and special drops. I love capsule collections as well as special collabs.

What shopping category is your guilty pleasure?

Quirky items that are off the beaten track.

How many shoes do you really own?

I am blessed to be able to work with many amazing shoe partners. As much as I appreciate each work of art, I only always rotate between my favourite staple pieces which I wear religiously. Current obsessions are my Giuseppe Zanotti black boots, my YSL tassel boots and my undercover Nike collab and Givenchy sneakers. And always a great (pair of) sandals for summer.

Whose wardrobe would you like to steal?

Everything fresh off the runway. Preferably female.
