Phoebe Sin suffers from mastitis after giving birth

6 May – TVB artiste Phoebe Sin recently admitted that her postpartum difficulties was one of the reasons why she and husband Ruco Chan took some time before announcing the birth of their baby.

As reported on Mingpao Weekly, the actress, who announced the arrival of baby Quinta two weeks after giving birth, shared that she was diagnosed with mastitis following delivery - an inflammation of breast tissue that sometimes involves infection.

"I was very tired and very weak. We wanted to announce the birth, but I had a fever soon after," she said.

Phoebe stated that she initially thought that it was normal for breastfeeding to hurt, until the fever hit her.

"The doctor suggested that I stay in the hospital to get treatment, but I insisted on staying home so that I could be with Quinta. In the end, the doctor prescribed me some medicine instead," she said.

The actress also admitted that she had to stop breastfeeding her daughter for a while because of her situation, and instead would mix breast milk with formula to give to Quinta.

"We have hired a lactation consultant, so hopefully I will be able to breastfeed again soon," she said.
