Philip Keung is happy to finally score a HKFA nomination

28 Feb - Thirty years into his film career and Philip Keung has finally earned himself a nomination at the Hong Kong Film Awards.

As reported on Singtao Daily, the actor, who was nominated for the first time for his role in "Trivisa", shared that he was screaming with joy when he found out that his name has been listed in the Best Supporting Actor category.

"My wife was surprised to see my reaction. But then she immediately opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate it with me," he said.

Philip also admitted that while he would like to win, he will face tough competition from the likes of Ng Man Tat ("The Menu"), Liu Kai Chi ("Weeds on Fire"), Eric Tsang ("Mad World"), and Paul Chun ("Book of Love").

"But I am still happy to be nominated. To see so many people online supporting me, it already feels like a victory to me," he said.

As for his co-stars Richie Jen and Gordon Lam, who are nominated in the Best Actor category, Philip said that Gordon may have a better chance at winning.

"He always sat in the corner to prepare himself. He would also give me a lot of suggestions for my performance. We are very similar. We started on television, we had our rise and we had our fall. It would be great to see him win it," he said.
