Pete Davidson Claps Back at Fans Accusing Him of Being Inappropriate on Ariana's Grande's Instagram

We all know how close Ariana Grande is to her grandmother-but she also had an extremely close relationship to her grandfather, and she's been very sweetly celebrating his memory on the four year anniversary of his death. Ariana's dedicated multiple tweets and Instagram posts to her gramps, including this one:

Which is where Pete Davidson comes in. Ariana's fiancé went ahead and wrote "omg what a cutie" on the post, and fans (incorrectly!) assumed he was talking about Ariana. Which, obviously, would have been a "not the time, not the place" situation.

The backlash to Pete's comment was pretty unfair and intense (no one seemed willing to give the SNL star the benefit of the doubt), prompting him to respond to fans directly. "Are you guys all insane?" he wrote. "I was talking about how cute her grandpa is. What's wrong with that? You guys will really look for anything to attack people. It's sad."

FYI, Pete and Ariana are currently engaged after just a few weeks of dating, and their wedding is speculated to be this August. The public and PDA-packed nature of their love has opened them up to a lot of trolling, but clearly they aren't letting it impact their relationship.
