People have already seen “La La Land” and here’s what everyone thinks

If you were already excited to see Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in the romantic musical La La Land (who wasn’t?) then you’ll be really excited when you hear that people are obsessed with the film after seeing it at the Venice Film Festival.

The film opened the festival Wednesday and the reviews are pretty much unanimous. It’s a delight!

Off Twitter, Deadline calls it “a gorgeous romantic fever dream of a musical that should hit contemporary audiences right in their sweet spot.” And Variety says La La Land is “the kind of good that raises the hairs on the back of your neck until you can only think to yourself, simply, ‘This kid is talented.'”

The film is about a love affair between an aspiring actress/waitress (Stone) and a jazz pianist (Gosling), with the city of L.A. as a dreamy backdrop.

Filmmaker Damien Chazelle, whose last film, Whiplash, was critically acclaimed and won three Oscars, told Deadline that he set La La Land in Los Angeles because “it’s almost the embodiment of the romantic idea of America, you know, the freeways that go on to infinity, the big horizon, the big sky, the beach, Hollywood, you know the whole thing is so larger than life and so kind of iconic America in their mind. There’s a lot to play with there.”

We absolutely Can. Not. WAIT. till this one hits the big screen. In the meantime, we’ll be watching the trailer on repeat!
