PC download charts: 'DB FighterZ,' 'Subnautica' joined by 'Staxel,' 'My Time at Portia,' 'Civ VI:Rise & Fall,' 'Kingdom Come'
"Dragon Ball FighterZ" and "Subnautica" maintain strong positions, "Battalion 1944" breaches Steam's top five, fans prepare their wallets for the first "Civilization VI" expansion and a well-anticipated "Kingdom Come: Deliverance," while "Staxel" and "My Time at Portia" step out into Early Access in our collection of PC download charts for February 5, 2018.
Released two weeks ago, cartoon fighting game "Dragon Ball FighterZ" and underwater exploration adventure "Subnautica" stay within the Steam top five, while the former also tops the Humble Store, Fanatical and GamersGate.
Newcomer "Battalion 1944" mimics a 15-year-old "Call of Duty" template in terms of World War II theming and its playerbase's commitment to fast, skill-based wins and is rewarded with a place inside the Steam top five.
Also within Steam's upper echelons, February 8's "Civilization VI: Rise and Fall" will be the first big add-on for October 2016's already expansive strategy game, while for anyone wondering whether a 12-year-old award-winning fantasy adventure can still win an appreciative audience, "Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age" answers in the affirmative.
Elsewhere, city-building games "Staxel" and "My Time at Portia" represent exciting innovations on the "Minecraft" and "Animal Crossing" / "Stardew Valley" approaches respectively; blocky feature-filled construction kit "Staxel" is in at fifth on the Humble chart, while "My Time at Portia" secures a GamersGate placing.
On GOG, it's the pre-order for historical adventure "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" that claims first place this time around.
The first title from new studio Warhorse, it aims to offer a realistic medieval role-playing adventure -- no dragons, no magic, and a commitment to realism wherever possible: expertise comes through learning and practice, armor affects defense and visibility, and so on. It's due February 13.
And on Itch.io, we see hotel spy jaunt "The Golden Tulip" from an Australian pair make it all the way to second place. It was produced during the recent Global Game Jam, and more playable projects can be found via Itch.io's search tag or globalgamejam.org.
As of Sunday February 4, 2018, "PUBG" has been top of Steam's best-seller chart for 45 weeks straight.
