Paulo Avelino is not ready to open up about past struggles

20 Nov– Although he previously wrote about his struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts, Paulo Avelino recently confessed that he is not fully ready to open up thoroughly about the dark times in his life.

As reported on Push, the actor, who went on social media to promote the Hope Line for people struggling with similar situation, stated that he will share with people what he went through eventually, but that now is not the time.

"It's a bit awkward to talk about it. And it depends per person how you recover and how you cope with it. But then again, we have experts for that, which is why I am also helping Hope Line, because these are people who know what they are doing," he said.

Avelino also admitted that he is not qualified to give advice to people about depression, but would totally encourage them to get help.

"My experience is different from theirs and at the same time, I don't know if it would help or if it could worsen someone's case [if I give direct advice]," he added.

It was early this month that Avelino wrote about his past struggles, saying that he once shut himself off the world and didn't know how to express his feelings.

"Please, don't be afraid to reach out to your friends, family, and loved ones. Often times people will brush it off thinking it's nothing to be concerned about or it's a small matter. Don't be scared to voice out what you feel no matter how hard it is. Never lose HOPE," he wrote.
