Paul Soriano nervous about first romance movie

The director hopes that he will be able to convey the message in his new coming-of-age movie

16 May - Director-producer Paul Soriano admits recently that he is nervous about helming his new movie, especially since it will be his first directorial project in the romance genre.

As reported on Push, the director, whose new movie stars Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Jericho Rosales, and Erich Gonzales, said that he is hoping that he will be able to pull it off.

"I am a little nervous actually. I hope I can do this, that I can pull it off. But I am also excited to be working with a great cast. Jericho, Erich and Jasmine have been very cooperative," said Soriano, who is known for true-to-life movies like "Thelma", "Kid Kulafu", and "Dukot".

The untitled project, which was also described as a coming-of-age movie, will begin filming in Siargao for the next three weeks.

"Hopefully through the film, people will appreciate and see the island of Siargao and the story that we're going to tell," he said.

As to why Siargao, he said that he owned a resort in the island, and that both his wife Toni Gonzaga and their baby son loved it when they went on a trip there during the Holy Week. He also sang praises for the residents of the island for being welcoming towards visitors.

When asked what the movie is about, Soriano responded ambiguously, "It's about coming home. It's about going back to what you really love the most, what really makes you happy. We want to explore that."
