It looks as though Paul McCartney is in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’.

And there’s a weird new poster to prove it.

It’s no secret that former Beatles front-man Sir Paul McCartney has been rumoured for a role in the upcoming ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ sequel, ‘Salazar’s Revenge’. And now the 74-year-old singer has seemingly confirmed his role… by releasing a new character poster of himself.

Appearing on Twitter, the legendary rock star unveiled the poster with a simple hashtag:

“#PiratesLife”

Clearly, he’s a man of few words… but it’s enough to join the dots.

Especially since Disney seemingly confirmed the news by sharing it to its own social pages.

The new character poster features Paul McCartney in full costume and makeup, wearing a strange, black getup with full pirate hair and beard. But who is he, and how does he fit into the story of ‘Salazar’s Revenge’?

At the moment, that’s not exactly clear…

“While there’s no official word yet whether McCartney’s role is merely a cameo or if he plays a larger part in the story of the franchise’s fifth outing, according to IMDb he’s credited as “Jail Guard 2.”,” explained Entertainment Weekly.

If you ask me, it sounds like more of a cameo than anything… but then, an IMDB listing isn’t exactly the most reliable source, so perhaps we should take it with a pinch of salt.

Either way, it looks as though McCartney is joining the likes of Keith Richards in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ musical hall of fame.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge’ stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, Geoffrey Rush, and Orlando Bloom.

Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg directed the film based on a script by Jeff Nathanson.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge’ heads to cinemas on 26 May 2017.
