Patrick Kong enjoys filming his first TV series, "Stained"

16 Jan – Hong Kong director Patrick Kong recently admitted that it has been such a great experience filming the first TV series in his career.

As reported on Mingpao, the filmmaker, who directed his first crime thriller series, "Stained" for FOX, shared that he took the initiative to propose the project to the network, despite having no prior experience in making a TV show.

"When it comes to television, I am like a blank piece of paper. Many filmmakers started their career making TV series, but I have never been exposed to the TV industry. I never had any experience in television training," he said.

Lead actress Kara Hui admitted that people will never guess that the series was directed by Patrick if they didn't know who helmed it.

"It's because he doesn't seem like the kind of director who would shoot such a show," she said.

On the other hand, Patrick admitted that he took it upon himself to direct the series in the style of American TV series, so that it could reach broader audience.

"This is the first ever Hong Kong series with American-style film techniques. Only the pay is a little lower," he joked.

The five-part series "Stained", which premiered on Fox on 7 January, stars Kara Hui as an inspector who begins an investigation into several murders after her husband (played by Anthony Wong) is accused of being involved in many of them.
