Pakho Chau wins RTHK's Best Male Singer

18 Jan – Despite losing more support from Hong Kong fans over his alleged pro-China stance, it did not seem to hurt Pakho Chau's popularity as he won Gold Prize for Best Male Singer at the RTHK Top Ten Chinese Gold Song Awards.

As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who also won Gold Song for his song, "Aftermath", described music as a drug that both heals people and makes them addicted.

"The experience in 2020 has woken me a little bit, and that I should cherish time and do my best. I am awaken to the meaning of making songs and hopes that every song has a life that people will be able to feel," he said.

However, news of his win did not sit well with some netizens, who made their dissatisfaction known with a large number of negative reviews. Some felt that Alfred Hui; who won the Silver Prize, and Keung To; who won Bronze, should not have lost to Pakho.

Despite the criticism, the singer won yet another Best Male Singer at the TVB Jade Solid Gold the day after, though this time alongside Hubert Wu.
