A Painter Creates Funny Art Of His Shirt Patterns
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so if the beholder happens to love his shirt pattern - why not make artwork out of it?
It's the simple yet irresistibly laugh-inducing concept artist Hank Schmidt in der Beek and photographer Fabian Schubert have been pursuing since 2009. The German duo travels to beautiful locations around Europe that inspired the famous works of masters of plein air - but, instead of looking at the sites beyond his easel, Schmidt in der Beek comically turns the canvas into a reflection of his shirt pattern.

The photographs were published in a 2016 book called "Und im Sommer tu ich malen" that translates to "And In The Summer I Do Paint." The paintings featured may not be van Gogh or Monet, but they serve as an important reminder: Art's purpose can be to make you ponder, to make you reflect, or sometimes - to make you laugh. It's the little things.
