Laura Dern has been named Best Supporting Actress at the 92nd Academy Awards for her role in Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story.

Dern, who turned 53 on Sunday, described her first Oscar as “the best birthday present ever” as she spoke from the stage of the Dolby Theatre.

The win came from Dern’s third nomination after she previously lost out on Best Actress for Rambling Rose and Best Supporting Actress for Wild.

"I share this with my acting legends, Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern. You got game, I love you."
