OPM singer Claire dela Fuente passed away

31 Mar - Legendary singer-songwriter Claire dela Fuente has recently passed away.

The news was confirmed on 30 March by her son Gigo de Guzman, who stated that the OPM singer passed away in her sleep from a cardiac arrest.

"She died from cardiac arrest, believed to be a result of her stress and anxiety. My mum has anxiety, hypertension and diabetes and her tendency to worry, to stress a lot, led her to weaken and in her sleep her heart gave up," he said.

Gigo also admitted that his mother had also tested positive for COVID-19 last week and was in treatment at the time of her death.

As for her funeral arrangements, he stated that there will be no physical wake, though there may be a virtual wake where friends and relatives could bid her farewell.

He also described his mother as an amazing woman, who had been with him all through his journey despite their differences.

"Yes we had our issues, yes sometime we don't see eye to eye at times, but I know she loved me. It's just nice or amazing to see that until the end, she was fighting for me. And she wanted to show me how much she loved me. I just didn't get to tell her I saw it. After all we've been through, she's trying to be the best mother that she could be," he said.
