OPM icon April Boy passed away

30 Nov – "Jukebox idol" April Boy Regino has recently passed away.

As reported on GMA, the news was shared by his brother Vingo Regino on social media, which read, "It's a sad day. My older brother April Boy is gone."

 

His wife Madelyn also confirmed the news on Facebook, saying that the OPM singer died on 29 November at a hospital after years of battling chronic kidney disease.

She posted, "No more pain for you, Love. Too much pain for Me. You said you still wanted to live because you wanted to be with me. Why did you leave me?"

Today, she posted an update on her Facebook for his fans who want to pay their respects to the late singer; that the wake and funeral will be held at Idolstar 160 M. H Del Pilar Street Kalumpang Marikina City. Madelyn also reminded everyone to wear their masks.

Born Dennis Regino Magloyuan Magdaraog, Regino started his career as an entertainer in Japan, before he had his first hit, "Sana'y Laging Magkapiling" in 1993 as part of the trio The April Boys with brothers Vingo and Jimmy.

He later pursued a career as a solo artiste and released a number of hit songs including "Umiiyak ang Puso", "Paano ang Puso Ko", and "'Di 'Ko Kayang Tanggapin."

He was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2009 that he eventually recovered from. However, he lost sight on his left eye in 2015 as a result of diabetic retinopathy and complications from diabetics.

Born on 9 April 1961, April Boy was 59.
